A Rich Man And A Thief

words:203

Once upon a time, there lived a rich man in a village. One day the rich man lost his valuable wristwatch. He was sure that one of his servants has stolen the watch. But he failed to detect the thief. He made a plan. At night he called all the servants. He gave sticks of equal length to all of them and told them to return their sticks the next morning. He also said, ‘The thief’s stick will be longer by an inch in the morning by my magic.’

At night the real thief could not sleep at all in tension. He made a plan. He cut an inch from his stick. He thought that all the sticks must be of equal length. The next morning all the servants appeared before the rich man with their sticks. One stick was found shorter by an inch. The rich man easily caught the thief and dismissed him from service. At last, he handed him over to the police.
