or
Bayazid and his Mother
words:213
Once there was a boy named Bayazid. One night the boy Bayazid was reading. His mother was sleeping nearby. At midnight she woke and asked Bayazid for a glass of water. Bayazid went to bring water but there was no water in the jar. He went to the well far away from their house. Everyone in the village fell asleep. He filled the jar with water and returned. He went to his mother with a glass of water. In the meantime (meanwhile) his mother fell asleep. The boy did not wake her mother. He was standing by her bed with the glass of water in hand. Mother woke up in the morning. She was surprised to find her son standing by her bed. She said, “My dear son, Why did not you leave the glass on the table and go to bed?” In reply Bayazid said, “Dear mother, I thought, you would not find the water after waking. So I did not go to sleep, leaving the glass on the table.” ‘Please take the glass and drink water.’ said Bayazid with simple. Mother was highly pleased. She took the glass, drank the water and blessed him.
