A Foolish Stag

It was summer. A stag became very thirsty. He came to a river for drinking water. While he was drinking water he found his own image in the water. He was charmed to see the beauty of his own horns. The peculiarity of his branchy horns also made him feel proud. The boastful stag felt sorry for his four thin and ugly legs.
The stag drank water to his heart’s content. When he quenched his thirst, he heard the sound of a galloping horse. He was seized with terror at the sight of a hunter who was rushing towards him. The stag started running fast. But the hunter pursued him. When the stag running through a jungle, his horns got entangled in some creeper of a bush. Within a short time, the hunter easily caught the stag. The stag exclaimed with sorrow that his legs for which he had hatred would have saved him but his horns of which he had been proud were going to bring about his death.
Moral: None should despise anything given by God as useless.
