          My favourite author is Sarat Chandra Chatterjee. He is known as Kathashilpi. The great writer was born on 15th September in 1876 at Debanandapur in Hoogly. He received his early education at Bhagalpur. But he could not continue his studies. Saratchandra visited many places in India. He gathered a lot of experience of common people. He began writing novels and stories with the help of the experience. He gave the true picture of common people. He gave the picture of their joys and sorrows, virtues and vices, hopes and aspirations. He gave a true picture of the rural life of Bengal. Saratchandra highlighted the people of all classes in society. He exposed prejudices and superstitions of the society to uproot them. His novels teach us to rise above narrowness, meanness and selfishness. The great author died on 16th  January in 1938 at the age of 61 in Kolkata.
