Three Artists
words:217
Once upon a time there lived three artists in a city. They drew very beautiful pictures. It was not easy to say who the best of the three was.
One day the Mayor of the city arranged a competition. He invited the three artists to take part in it. The artists arrived in time to participate in the competition. One of them painted a bunch of flowers. It was so living that a swarm of bees mistook it for a real bunch of flowers and sat on it. Everyone present was moved. The second artist drew a bunch of bananas. It was so life-like that a cow came and began eating it, taking it for a bunch of bananas. At last, the third artist was asked to show his picture. Showing a curtain at the side he requested the judge to lift it to see his picture. The judge went to lift the curtain and to his utter surprise, he found that the curtain itself was his picture.
A few insects were befooled by the first artist. The second artist befooled a beast. But the wise judge himself was befooled by the third artist. So the third artist was regarded as the best of the three.
