The honesty of a taxi driver
words:187
Once there lived a poor taxi driver in a certain place. He somehow maintained his family. Taxi-driving (the driving of a taxi) was the only means of his living. The driver drove his taxi from morning till night. One day a man hired his taxi from a market. It was about 10 p.m. The driver dropped him at his residence fifty miles away from the market. He came back home at midnight. The next day the driver was cleaning his taxi as usual. Suddenly, to his utter surprise, he noticed a bag lying on the rear seat. Then and there, he could remember the owner of the bag. He collected his address from his identity card. The driver drove straight to the gentleman’s residence. The man found the taxi driver standing before him with the missing bag in hand. The owner got his money back. He offered the driver some money as a reward. But the driver said, “No Sir, I have just done my duty. I cannot accept this reward.”
