An Absent-minded Man

Long ago, there was an absent-minded gentleman. He was unfortunate. He often forgot important matters. Once he arranged to give dinner on his birthday to his friends and relatives. The appointed day arrived but the guests did not come. Half an hour passed still they did not come. The host became worried. The delay grew to an hour but none arrived. The gentleman was in despair. He thought that all the things were going to be spoiled. He gave up all the hope of their coming and returned to his drawing-room. He opened the drawer of his writing table. In his utter surprise, he found the whole bundle of invitation letters which he had forgotten to send.
