          Once there was a king. The king kept a monkey and treated him affectionately. The monkey also loved the king very much. One afternoon the king fell asleep. The monkey was sitting at his bedside. Suddenly a fly sat on the king’s nose. The monkey then and there drove it away. The fly again came and sat on the king’s forehead. This time also the monkey drove it away. As soon as the fly sat on the king’s body, again and again, the monkey began to drive it away. 

          At last, the monkey became impatient and decided to kill it. Being mad with rage, he took a sword hanging on the wall. As the fly sat on the king’s throat, the foolish monkey dealt a blow at it. The tiny fly flew away unhurt but the king’s throat was seriously hurt.

Moral: One should avoid a foolish friend.

To make friends with a fool brings about ruin.

or

Being friends with a foolish person brings about one’s ruin.

or

Becoming the friends of a fool brings about one’s ruin.
