The Piper Of Hamlin

Hamlin is a town in Germany. The town was infested with rats. The number of rats in the town was daily increasing more and more. People were very much troubled. The mayor was very much worried. He declared a handsome reward to remove the rats from the town. A piper came and played his magic pipe. The sweet tune of the pipe led the rats to the river where they were drowned. People in the town were happy. The piper asked the mayor for his reward. The mayor refused his reward. The piper became very angry. He blew another tune which charmed all the children of the town. He led them to a mountain cave. The children never returned. They were lost forever. The entire town was thrown into great grief for the folly of the Mayor.

 

Moral: Promises must be kept.
